The Two Gentlemen of Verona

Back again after being rudely thwarted by Perth weather, it’s a moved reading of Shakespeare's “The Two Gentlemen of Verona”!

One of Shakespeare's first plays and a comedy about romance, bromance, and societal breakdown.

“My aim with this reading is to depict Two Gentlemen not as Shakespeare’s failed first attempt at tropes perfected later in his better-known plays, as it is so often dismissed, but as an intentional breakdown of society and of strictly regulated male/male interaction, resulting from the tension between heterosexual marriage and homosocial bonds.”
